Lower limb analysis
The function of the lower limbs plays an important role in the movement and everyday activity of the human body. Overuse-related problems in the lower limbs and lower back typically appear during or after physical activity. According to studies, approximately 70% of the world’s population has some degree of misalignment in the lower limbs.

The function of the lower limbs plays an important role in the daily life of an active person. Overuse-related problems in the lower limbs and lower back typically occur during or after movement. According to studies, approximately 70% of the world’s population has some degree of lower limb misalignment.
The cause of symptoms is most often a functional disorder, an incorrect walking pattern, or a leg length discrepancy, which changes the normal load distribution in the lower limbs. This altered loading is usually related to foot misalignment, muscle imbalances, and/or weaknesses in the muscles of the lower extremities.
When there is a functional issue in the ankle and foot area, it can affect the entire lower limb chain, including the knee, hip, or even the lower back. This faulty mechanics most often leads to pain or aching during or after movement.
What is lower limb analysis?
The purpose of lower limb analysis is to identify the underlying causes of potential problems. It is also well suited as a preventive assessment for children, athletes, and people who are physically active.
Based on the analysis, decisions about further treatment and possible orthotic insoles are made together with the client.
The analysis includes, for example:
- posture
- possible leg length difference
- joint mobility and stability of the pelvis, hips, knees, ankles, and feet
- muscle tightness and strength
- lower limb alignment
- load distribution during movement and standing
- movement analysis (walking/running)
